Introduction
Scope of Application
The textile formaldehyde content tester is used to determine formaldehyde content in various textiles and garment fabrics. It employs water extraction method to prepare formaldehyde solution, followed by colorimetric reaction with Nash reagent, and final testing through software analysis.
Mandatory Standards in China
China’s national mandatory standard GB 18401-2003 (Basic Safety Technical Specifications for Textiles) has been implemented since January 1, 2006, specifying safety requirements for harmful substances including formaldehyde. Additional standards effective since January 1, 2010 include:
- GB/T 23328-2009 – Machine-woven student uniforms
- GB/T 2664-2009 – Men’s suits and coats
- GB/T 2665-2009 – Women’s suits and coats
- GB/T 2666-2009 – Trousers
- GB/T 23314-2009 – Neckties
