SUGA S80 Carbon Arc Weathering Tester
Category:Carbon arc aging tester
Introduction
Applicable Standards
The SUGA S80 adheres to globally recognized standards, including:
ISO, AATCC, ASTM (e.g., ASTM G152. ASTM D822 for coatings)
JIS L0891 (textiles), JIS D0205 (automotive parts)
GB/T 16422.4-2014 (plastics), GB/T15255-1994 (rubber)
These standards ensure reliable testing for colorfastness, weather resistance, and material degradation.

Working Principle
The S80 simulates natural sunlight using carbon arc lamps, emitting UV, visible, and infrared radiation. The tester controls irradiance, temperature, and humidity to replicate harsh outdoor conditions. A water spray system introduces rain cycles, accelerating degradation mechanisms like photo-oxidation and hydrolysis.
Test Principle
Materials are exposed to controlled light/dark cycles and humidity variations. The carbon arc lamps’ spectral distribution matches solar radiation, causing gradual fading, cracking, or embrittlement. By adjusting parameters (e.g., irradiance, temperature), the S80 accelerates aging, predicting long-term outdoor performance in weeks rather than years.
The SUGA S80 is indispensable for R&D and quality control, offering accurate, efficient, and standardized aging tests.
