Introduction

This head and torso are designed for use in the testing of clothing and headgear in a high temperature challenging environment. The head and torso are of a medium size and the head-form contains an ISO 16900-5 trachea. The head surface is made of high heat resistant silicone rubber (up to 294°C) and is fixed over a machined aluminium core which provides the thermal mass.

Application

The High-Temperature Half Mannequin is suitable for testing a variety of protective equipment and scenarios, including:

Full-system evaluation of high-temperature protective clothing

Firefighter suits and helmets for heat resistance testing

Industrial high-temperature workwear (metallurgy, foundry, glass production)

High-temperature protective headgear, helmets, and respiratory devices

Compatibility testing of protective clothing and headgear systems

Performance verification under thermal shock or continuous heat exposure

Laboratory research for comparative high-temperature protective performance

Standards

The mannequin can be used as a test carrier in accordance with or in support of the following standards:

GB 24539 — Protective Clothing: General Technical Requirements for Chemical Protective Clothing (high-temperature relevant tests)

GB/T 38302 — Protective Clothing: Evaluation Methods for High-Temperature Protection

ISO 16900-5 — Respiratory Protective Devices: Test Heads and Human Models — Airway Structure

ISO 17491 — Protective Clothing Test Methods: System-Level and Human-Simulation Tests

EN 136 / EN 137 — Requirements for Respiratory Protective Equipment

ASTM F2707 — Test Methods for High-Temperature Protective Equipment

Testing Principle

The mannequin simulates the thermal mass and structural properties of the human upper body in high-temperature environments. Protective clothing or headgear is mounted on the mannequin, and heat sources or high-temperature chambers simulate extreme conditions. This setup allows evaluation of thermal tolerance, structural integrity, and system-level compatibility of protective equipment.

FAQ

1. What is the High-Temperature Half Mannequin used for?

It evaluates protective clothing and headgear under high-temperature conditions, simulating human thermal inertia and structural response.

2. Which protective equipment can be tested?

Supports high-temperature suits, firefighter uniforms, industrial workwear, helmets, head covers, and respiratory protective systems.

3. How does it simulate human thermal characteristics?

The aluminum core mimics human thermal mass; silicone head and GRP torso replicate heat response and structural integrity.

4. Can it test protective equipment at the system level?

Yes, with integrated ISO 16900-5 airway, it supports helmets, respiratory devices, and clothing for system-level testing.

5. What safety precautions are required?

Ensure the mannequin is clean and undamaged, do not exceed maximum temperature, allow cooling post-test, and strictly follow standard exposure times.
