Introduction

The puncture test for safety shoes evaluates toe compression resistance by  applying a constant speed load to the toe cap until a specified pressure value  is reached. The minimum height of a modeling clay cylinder placed inside the toe  cap is then measured. The result is used to assess the compression resistance  performance of safety or protective footwear toe caps.

The machine also drives a puncture nail to penetrate the outsole of the shoe  at a constant speed until the sole is fully penetrated or a specified force  value is reached. The maximum force required for penetration, or whether the  puncture nail breaks through at a defined force level, is used to evaluate the  puncture resistance of safety shoes, protective shoes, or occupational footwear  with anti-puncture midsoles.
